Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth

This page is designed to provide a review of other Christian websites. Arm Yourself with the Sword of the Lord Six years ago Rick Meyers decided to combine his love for Scripture with a passion for computer programming. His decision has resulted in a spectacular gift for millions of people worldwide. Rick developed a website that provides a free software library of Bibles and Christian study materials that you can download to your computer. The software library is called E-Sword and it has been downloaded over 3,000,000 times in countries all around the world. E-Sword’s trademark is the “Sword of the Lord with an electronic edge.” E-Sword provides a virtual library at your fingertips packed with features that can help you develop a deeper understanding of God’s Word. It includes fifteen Bible translations, comparative features which provide all fifteen translations of the same verse on the same page or a comparison of four translations of your choosing simultaneously. Also provided are sixteen commentaries, thirteen Bible dictionaries; plus Scripture memory, daily devotional and prayer request programs, as well as several graphics programs including NASA satellite images and five biblical map libraries. Under the Link tab of the website you will find User Modules with twenty-seven more Bible translations and several more reference works which may be downloaded and integrated into the E-Sword library on your computer. As if that is not enough, you may also download thirty-one additional reference works, a Pocket PC version and a screensaver program. You might be intimidated by all this software but it provides so many options and tools for the Bible student that it is certainly worth the effort. To help develop your skills the website features downloadable video tutorials and a tutorial manual. Once you learn the basics, E-Sword navigation is a snap with menus, book marking, highlighting and text marking features, tabs and scroll bars to help you. You can even personalize the program layout and reference sources to suit your needs and easily use the program to prepare Bible lessons.
According to a survey of users on the website, half are biblical students using the software to enhance their personal knowledge. The other half is split between pastors, teachers and small group leaders. The Bible reading program is the most popular tool. Bibles and commentaries are the most valued references. The majority of E-Sword users are males between the ages 25-45. Consider using the tools on this website to develop a habit to read the Bible daily (Bible Reading Plan), develop a consistent prayer life (Prayer Requests tool), or to memorize Bible verses (Scripture Memory tool). Whichever way you might choose to utilize this free gift, prayerfully consider supporting the non-profit foundation that supports the program or at least send a note of thanks to Rick Meyers.
